About Me

With more than 30 years’ experience in fundraising and philanthropy Kim Downes is a recognised accomplished senior fundraising strategist with extensive experience in the education, religious, arts and healthcare sectors. Her expertise includes: major gifts, capital campaigns, annual campaigns, prospect research, Trust and Foundation relationships and proposals, event management, donor protocols, donor recognition, donor segmentation, public relations, publications, marketing and alumni programs, staff recruitment, volunteer and Board training and development.

During her career Kimberly has completed extensive studies regarding how to create a culture of philanthropy; how to assist organisations to become donor-centric and how to engage women as donors in the major gifts space.

She has published a research report on The Role and Influence of Women in Australian Philanthropy and is a co-author of the book Rise Above, Beyond Ordinary.

Kim has served on several NFP Boards and is currently a Co-Chair of the Australian Pituitary Foundation. She is a member of Business in Heels and G100. She is also a specialist consultant for Giving Connect.

She has a history of presenting at FIA, EducatePlus, Fundraising and Philanthropy, Philanthropy Australia and CASE Conferences.
